Time-of-use

Pre-cool before the peak

On many time-of-use plans, electricity costs most in the late afternoon and evening. Cooling the house a little earlier, then letting it drift a few degrees, can shift much of that use out of the peak.

  • Before the peak

Cool a couple of degrees below your usual setting.

  • During the peak

Let it drift up a few degrees; the house holds the cool.

  • After the peak

Back to your normal setting for the evening.

FAQ

Questions

What is pre-cooling?

Cooling the house a couple of degrees below your usual setting before the peak rate period, then letting it drift up a few degrees during the peak. The house holds much of the cool.

Which hours are peak on my plan?

It depends on your plan and utility. Many time-of-use plans have a 4pm to 9pm peak; check your bill. Some Corona addresses are served by the city utility rather than SCE.

Will pre-cooling save me money?

It can shift cooling out of the most expensive hours, but results depend on your plan, your home and your habits. We do not promise a set saving.

Do you work on commercial buildings?

Yes. Warehouse offices, showrooms, retail, restaurants and offices, with rooftop units, controls and maintenance plans.

Which areas do you cover?

Corona, Norco, Eastvale, Riverside, Temescal Valley, Jurupa Valley and Chino Hills.
